Boise? I could possibly do that; I am in Laramie, which is a long day's drive away. Is there a non-Facebook site describing the production and how to get tix, etc.? Any other fannish events surrounding the show? Is JoCo showing up? Are you streaming (maybe via ConcertWindow)?
  • Brett,

Love to have you come and see the show! The website for the show is http://thefuturesoon.net/. The ticket site is http://thefuturesoon.brownpapertickets.com/ After seeing your JocoCruise karaoke video I am thinking we should have a Joco karaoke event. We are not planning on streaming the show at this time but we would love to have all of the Joco fans come out and sing, drink and see the show.

That would be fun! I have more JoCo karaoke -- some of it with backing tracks I have made myself, some of it with high quality audio from the Artificial Heart album, remixed for karaoke by Jason Roop.

I also have a parody of one of JoCo's songs (which JoCo hasn't seen yet; maybe one day!) with a bunch of "in" jokes that his fans will get. Some of the jokes are visual and are included in the graphics, so the parody is most effective if done as karaoke.
  • Brett,
    Sounds awesome!
  • BrettGlass - v interested in the extra JoCo karaoke tracks - are these generally available?

I made the tracks for fun (and so that I could perform some of the songs when they were requested; I'm a baritone and need them in a different key than JoCo). I'm glad to share them. These were done in Band in a Box. For example, here's my own backing track for The Future Soon, which I sang by request on the main stage at Marscon 2015:

  • Def interested in anything from the newer songs - shame that I guess it's not viable to keep doing them officially.

Drove out and spent the last day of the run with the creators and performers in Boise. It was fantastic! Script had lots and lots of geeky and "in" jokes (I'm convinced that I was the only audience member who got some of them). Talented cast, innovative theater tech, great choreography (I especially liked the closing number, which was "Chiron Beta Prime.")

The producer of the show, real life roboticist Eric Shuss (@eshuss above), says he decided to pull it together after -- I kid you not -- being zapped by a jolt of electricity while listening to JoCo tunes in his saltwater swimming pool. Hope this one goes on to wider recognition (perhaps even a performance on the JoCo boat?) and maybe a sequel.
