Ooh, I'll start! I love to share; it says so on my T-shirt. Maybe if I share enough someone will finally love me. I pooped today.

I already have a room (though I believe we're still looking for more roommates; I'll let @mrgoldenbrown post about that because he seems to be the organising person *whew*) Does anyone else, hopefully someone who can drive to Orlando and would like to share a room somewhere there, want to visit Kennedy Space Center (and maybe some theme parks), preferrably after the cruise? I've been there before every cruise so far and by this time they should have Atlantis on display so it'll still be new and exciting. This time, I'd rather go after, since I hope to go to MarsCon a week after the cruise, which means I'll have the week between for that kind of sightseeing. Also (slightly off-topic) is there anyone looking for a roommate for MarsCon?
  • Thanks @Kate for starting this, since I wasn't quite sure how to go about it. I am for sure going on the cruise, there is a 50/50 chance that my roommate will also come, but he isn't going to decide for a couple more weeks. Also, I would like to end up in a room with at least 2 other people because, lets face it, its cheaper.... which means even if my roommate joins me on this great adventure of becoming a seamonkey I would want one additional.

Hopes and dreams- I really want a room with a balcony, as I hear its the way to go on your first (and every subsequent) cruise.

Because I'm new thats all I know I want so far. I am hoping to book by June 15th to get the discount, but won't be ready to book for a couple of weeks as I finish putting my deposit together.

    You guys are awesome.

  • Just curious about the folks who went all out for the suites:  Any space available?
  • @Oboewan: I believe we have space in the Presidential Suite. :D
  • @Angelastic My wife and I may have a Marscon room that's share-able.
  • I'm looking for space, or a roommate, in a suite. Or balcony. Hubs just informed me he doesn't want to come.
  • Two-time sea monkey looking for one roommate for a Cabin Type L suite. Gender does not matter. If interested, send me a PM.
  • Question..newbie never been. How likely am I to find a decent roomate if I buy a 2 person cabin on spec? I'm female 51 yo and quietish ...would want another female. Should I take the risk? Thanks! My first cruise!
  • @Sparky1961, welcome!

The short answer is that you will have no trouble finding a decent roommate!

See last year's thread for examples. :)
  • Hi everyone,

Any single ladies looking for a roommate? My alternate travel plans are looking impossible, so I'm thinking about maybe an H cabin, with two people? If so, my email is lena dot m dot freund at gmail dot com. I check that more often than these forums.

    Lena
  • ok, about to take the plunge for a D or E cabin for 2---I'm old enough to want just one roommate and a balcony! :-)
the  difference in price between the highest and the lowest in this category is nor more than $200 or so split two ways. Looking for a female roommate.
Anyway am signing up for 2 and putting money down---but it's just me. I'm a female, 52 by the time of the cruise, a bit of an introvert and likely will turn into a pumpkin by midnight or so tho on a cruise who knows? I'm a new cruiser and new to JoCo of course tho a friend has raved about it so here I go, scared to death I'll never meet anyone. Cruises have never appealed to me (casino? no thanks)  but this one does! So.....here goes.

Please email christinadsparks at gmail dot com if you are interested,  compare preferences in a roommate and see what works out.   Thanks all!

  • I did it---Got a D1 cabin. Potential roommates please apply! :-)

  • I'm still looking for a potential roommate in a Cabin Type L interior stateroom. Once again, gender does not matter! Send me a PM if interested!

Oops E1 cabin...stern. Awesome view. Christinadsparks at gmail.com to do the roommate thing.
  • @Angelastic, I have no plans yet, but I'd love to stop off at disney world after the cruise if I can find 2-3 people who'd want to share a hotel room on site. Minimum of 3 days, up to a week. I haven't looked into transportation options from FLL to Orlando yet but there should be car/van rentals or shuttle service available.
  • I will vouch for the general delightfulness of Sparky1961, as I've known her for mumble-mumble years, and must therefore out myself as the "friend who raved about it" to her.
  • Ah Chetman. Bless you. Thou art on my angel list.
  • I am finally in a place where I know for sure I will be able to cruise. Time to look for a roommate! I'm very much hoping for a balcony room with one roommate. I'm okay with male or female (I'm female), I'm 30, somewhat new to JoCo culture and am looking for some new monkey friends. I'm looking forward to the concerts and the game room. I've never cruised before, and I won't know anybody. So here's to making friends and finding someone to share some space with so I save $600.

  • Hmm, I feel like @Sparky1961 and @midnitesnoopy need to chat... :)
  • I emailed her, am waiting to hear back. Hopefully soon!
  • We talked and it was a likely but her plans had to change from forces beyond her control. She still hopes to go but...too uncertain. So ...stern E1 balcony and still in need of 2nd female! Christinadsparks at gmail.com

So, it looks as if I will be able to go this year!  So excited!!!  I had hoped to go last year, but the financials just didn't work out for me.  This year I have all my ducks in a row.  Anyway, so I'll just copy what I wrote in the RaRS thread last year, with a few revisions:

This will be my first cruise, JoCo or otherwise, but I've always wanted to cruise and my hubby isn't interested in it, so this seems like a good opportunity to go without him.  I also love traveling and I haven't had the
chance to take a big trip in quite a few years (went to Malaysia in college).  Also excited to dive in the Caribbean, I just got Open Water certified a week ago.  Looking forward to a lot of new experiences and meeting a lot of other JoCo fans!

    About me:
33 at the time of the cruise
    Female (looking for female roommate)
Non-smoker  (need the same, I'm mildly allergic to tobacco smoke.  I'll get horrible headaches if around it too long)
    light social drinker
dedicated over-packer, but neat with my things (I won't take over the room)
    pretty easy going and friendly

I'll also be doing some excursions, cost permitting, and plan on doing and trying everything I can.  So, I probably won't be in the room much, but I also need a little down time each day.  I'm an introvert by nature, so I need a little time alone to read and clear my head.  But that doesn't mean you can't come and go as you wish.

I'm looking for someone to share a 2 person room (the introvert in me doesn't want 3 other people).  Balcony room would be nice, but an outside or interior room would be fine with the right roommate.

    ETA:  I booked a D2 balcony room.
    ETA 2:  Roommate found.  ^_^

Hey peeps, my name is Daniel.  This year may be my first excursion on joco crusie crazy.  I'm trying to find someone who may want to share a room; the surcharge is so expensive!  I'm so excited to meet such an awesome group of people; my sister goes on this cruise every year and raves about it all year.  She already booked a room with her friend and my decision to go was late, so here I am.  I'm thinking about getting one of the lesser expensive rooms like the interior or outside rooms.

    A little about me:

    -I'm male (I don't have a gender preference for a roommate)
    -I'm 23
-I do a little social drinking,
    -I'm a non-smoker (but I don't mind if my roommate smokes)

If anyone is interest. just email me at [email protected] or [email protected] (an old e-mail I'm too lazy to change)

Wasn't planning on coming this year but yesterday I received the pleasant surprise of a (tiny) raise.  But, it's enough of an excuse to push me over the edge so off to the Caribbean I go!  Just need a roommate (or roommates, I would still like to do this as cheaply as possible) and I'm ready to book.

Male, open to any roommate, have been told I snore, will provide earplugs.

Interior or Promenade room with 2, or balcony with 4 people

Non-smoker, but since you can only smoke in 2 spots on board, probably not a problem.

If you haven't booked or have an open spot in your room, let me know, [email protected]

Update: still searching for roommate. E-mail me at [email protected] if anyone is interested.
  • I just came here to vouch for @jackdaniels, who is a most excellent roommate and doesn't snore as much (nor as loudly!) as he thinks he does!
  • I emailed jd...but didnt get a response yet :, (
  • Doctoraicha not able to go..still seeking female for E1 room! Christinadsparks at gmail.com. see original post above.
  • My snoring friend Tom has a room booked and has not made the effort yet to find a roommate. I will try to direct him here.

I have a room at JoCo Hotel Crazy with two double beds for Saturday night only. I'm happy to share the room with someone.

    Edit: Roommate acquired.
  • Greetings!

I have a room at the JoCoTel for the night before the cruise and am also happy to share a room with someone(s). I have two double beds..

Note: I am on CPAP for sleep apnea, the machine does make a very much Darth Vader like sound at times, as I have mine set to wind tunnel strength. Earplugs are recommended if you're not used to it.

I'm a female, but don't mind sharing a room with either gender. Email me at techiesidhe (at) gmail.com!

    Christina
  • Also have a Joco hotel room booked for the night before..so..still looking for a share of E1 cabin and now hotel room.

My roommate has to cancel so I am, once again, looking for a roommate.  You can see my post above for more details, but the basics are:

33 at the time of the cruise
Female and looking for another female
Non-smoking and looking for same (no offense, minor smoke allergy)

I have a D2 balcony room (#7656) and I have a two bed, non-smoking room booked at the official JCCC hotel for the night before the cruise.  If you would like to share the hotel room also, that would be great!  (the price is good for that hotel, but still a little steep for my budget)

As I understand it (I may be wrong), there is a $150 cancellation fee on the rooms.  So if you already have a room and we want to combine, I think we'd have to pay the fee.  If that is the case, I'm looking for someone willing to split the fee.

You can message me on here or at [email protected].

ETA:  Got in contact with Sparky1961, so I believe I am no longer in need of a roommate.
  • mizzie, if you're talking about the hotel room, here's the cancellation policy from my Embassy Suites reservation:

    Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel, please do so 48 hours prior to arrival to avoid cancellation penalties.

  • Fizzgig - thanks.  But I was talking about the policy for the cruise.  They didn't charge my roommate a cancellation fee because the room wasn't being cancelled, or even the space in the room, as I will add someone else later.  Just the person occupying that space is changing.
  • Thanks for the clarification, mizzie.  I got worried by your post and triple-checked my hotel reservation. :)
  • I'm behind on booking a room and wondering if someone requires a roommate for the hotel the night before the cruise? you can message me here or at [email protected].
  • @mizzie, when we moved my booking to combine with yours they didn't charge it either because it wasn't a cancellation. So, hypothetically someone that has already booked may be able to re-combine. I hope you find someone awesome!
  • Ooh, that's right!  I forgot about that.
  • My Wife and I are looking for someone (or another couple) to share our room at the Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale (the official Joco Cruise Crazy hotel).  We've got a room for February 22nd (the night before we sail), but the reservation was made after the block sold out, so the cost would be half of the $309/night rate ($154.50).  We've got a room with 2 double beds... I think the hotel mentioned that the sofa converts into a bed as well.  It's possible that the wonderful organizers will come through and negotiate more rooms at the hotel, in which case the reservations folks tell me the cost of the room will go down.

My Wife and I don't actually arrive at FLL until pretty late, though (~10:45 PM), so you probably won't be able to get into the room until we arrive.  Still, we're fun people!  We're huge board gaming geeks, sci-fi/fantasy fans, haunted mansion/disney people, comic books, and more...  We're in our early forties, don't smoke, and this will be our first Joco Cruise!

If you're interested, please let me know by emailing me at dmhughes AT thehugheshouse DOT com.  Thanks!
  • I'm looking to add a roommate to my cabin.

    About me:
I have attended all 3 prior JoCo cruises. I'm 27, male, non-smoker, and I'm very respectful of personal space in the room. I love gaming and general geeking out.

    About the cabin:
The smallest, most affordable inside cabin - but close to all the action on the 6th floor. Has the early booking discount, so you won't find a better rate for the cruise if you want to go! Non-smoker only.
  • edited October 2013
Mission Accomplished! Mizzie and I ended up rooming both on the cruise and hotel..whooo hoo. :-D
  • edited November 2013
Edit: cabin mate acquired!  (Thanks Gina!)

I've been trying to talk more of my friends into joining us on the cruise, but I'm running out of time to find a cabin mate (everyone else from my gang is paired up already).

Is anyone still looking for a cabin mate?  I've got a G cabin on deck three (+ early booking discount) with room for one more person.

    About me:
This will be my second JCCC.  Male, GenX, non-smoker, board gamer, craft beer fan, runner.  I sleep with a CPAP, so no snoring from me, but there will be some white noise from the machine.

    You:
Non-smoker.  Willing to room with the above person :)
Drop me an email: [email protected]
  • I've copied your message here to my lazy friend who won't get off his butt to find a roomie, MikeKn. Hopefully that will make it easy for him. In case he doesn't mention it, he snores - loudly, I hear. If you hear from Tom E, that's him.
