Just as Long as Me
|Just as Long as Me|
|Release||Thing a Week Three|
"Just as Long as Me" was released as the thirty-first Thing a Week on May 5th, 2006. Jonathan said in his blog entry for the song that it was originally written for a friend who was doing a documentary about being tall.
 Live performance
"Just as Long as Me" has rarely been played at Jonathan Coulton concerts. When it is, the pace is kept about the same, but the banjo is replaced by Jonathan's guitar.
- The news article in Len's Visual Thing a Week reads: "Neil Underwood and Donna Turnauer are not only happily in love, but they are the tallest couple in Brookline at 6'11" each. They plan to marry next fall in a very 'tall' ceremony."
- The song was originally released without the fiddle; Jonathan said in his blog post,
I like the vocals and I'm pretty proud of the word play in the chorus, but I think this song could be much improved by the addition of a little fiddle - any bluegrass fiddle players out there?
- Subsequently, Jonathan received a listener-submitted fiddle track, which he mixed into the original track. The version currently available for download, which also appears on the CD release of Thing a Week Three, includes the fiddle.
"Just as Long as Me" is currently only available for purchase in the Jonathan Coulton MP3 Store as an individual track or as part of Thing a Week III. Of course, this song is also included as part of the "Everything" playlist.
FLAC versions of the above are available in the Jonathan Coulton FLAC Store.
Thing a Week III is available for purchase on CD here.
